Waiting for explorer exe logoff sound

Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. I have seen the prior answer to this problem and to be blunt it's too technical for me. I want to take my machine in for service and want to be able to make sure the repair person knows what they're doing before I let them mess with it.

Have installed minimal additional programs besides what it came with and when using Explorer it has frozen on several occasions forcing me to shut the whole computer down and then displays this error with the only option to force the program to close.

Waiting for explorer. What exactly is wrong? Version of Windows 7 installed and if 32 or 64bit Was Windows 7 preinstalled or was this an upgrade and from what OS to to you're running now or did you do a clean install drive wiped Have you upgraded the BIOS to the latest version? If this was an upgrade, did you update the drivers?

If Yes, from whom or where did you get your drivers from? Have you performed a Safe Boot yet? If yes, did it log off properly then? How long has this problem been going on? Have you tried restoring to a point before the problem occurence? Could you please take a Clean Boot to narrow down the issue? It is updated, but haven't updated BIOS. It was preloaded at Dell and I have added several other programs. Thank you for your suggestion.

After the Clean Boot, I selectively added services back in. In the end, I could restart normally. It looks like to me that there was a Silverlight update and perhaps the PC got hung on a bad shutdown? Perhaps there was something hung that got freed up upon the clean boot. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback.

When I try to log off Windows 7, I get the following error message: Waiting for explorer. My options are to "Force log off" or "Cancel". If I force log off, it shuts down.
